Small Group Ohio Law Changes as of January 1, 2016
- Last year, the State of Ohio changed the Ohio Revised Code to match the Federal Government PPACA Law in regards to the minimum number of hours that an employee would be considered Full-Time for Small Groups (2-50 eligible employees). Prior to this change, small groups in Ohio were required to offer health coverage to employees working an average of 25 hours per week. As of January 1, 2016, the new definition of Full-Time is an employee working on average and at a minimum of 30 hours per week.
- There is a second important change as of the first of the year, the age limit for insured group health plans that provide dependent coverage of children has changed to age 26. Prior to this change, the age limit was 28.
